TC 207 Resolution
Establishing the NGO Contact Group

Reflecting the multi-stakeholder nature of issues related to the environment, and in response to concerns regarding the participation of interested parties and the achievement of consensus in the work of ISO/TC 207, raised in the meeting between ISO/TC 207 CAG representatives and NGO representatives, and in the report of the Developing Country and DEVCO Task Force,

ISO/TC 207 supports the action of the ISO/TC 207 Chair to appoint Dorothy Bowers, John Henry and Dick Hortensius to investigate the concerns with appropriate parties and report of the ISO/TC 207 CAG, which will report to ISO/TC 207 in a timely manner allowing decisions on specific recommendations and actions, as appropriate, to be taken at the next plenary meeting in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The investigation should include a review of options provided by ISO Directives and Guides.

ISO/TC 207 will also undertake the following actions to support these efforts:

  • to obtain from ISO in Geneva and disseminate as necessary informational and education materials regarding ISO processes, procedures and participation;
  • to conduct workshops at future ISO/TC 207 meetings on ISO processes, procedures and participation; and
  • to conduct open discussion meetings at future ISO/TC 207 meetings with all parties concerned with participation of interested parties and the achievement of consensus in the work of ISO/TC 207.
